

The Aminu Magashi Garba Foundation (AMG Foundation) and the Kano State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation jointly convened a one-day technical workshop on the draft framework for the proposed Kano State Humanitarian Interventions Trust Fund.
The workshop, held on Monday, August 25, 2025, at the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs Conference Hall, was facilitated by Dr. Aminu Magashi Garba, Technical Adviser to the Ministry and Chairman of the AMG Foundation.
Opening Ceremony
During the opening ceremony, Dr. Magashi provided an overview of the workshop’s objectives, emphasizing the importance of establishing the Humanitarian Intervention Trust Fund in the state. He noted that initial funds had been allocated in the ministry’s 2025 approved budget.
The Honorable Commissioner, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Hon. Adamu Aliyu Kibiya, declared the workshop open and expressed gratitude to His Excellency, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Executive Governor of Kano State, for establishing the ministry. Commissioner Kibiya also acknowledged Dr. Magashi’s crucial role as the ministry’s technical adviser.
“Today, we gather to take a significant step towards developing the Humanitarian Interventions Trust Fund to support innovative partnerships and financing for humanitarian response, disaster management, and rapid response,” Kibiya stated.
The Technical Session
To guide the discussion, Dr. Magashi presented the draft framework of the proposed Kano State Humanitarian Trust Fund and sought input from participants.
The framework’s components included proposed governance structure, operational areas for interventions, sources of funding, and fund disbursement methods.
Participants from the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, government agencies, and development partners were divided into four groups to review each component.
